At Root Communcation, we believe sexual harassment prevention and civility training should go beyond a long list of definitions presented in slide show bullets.  The research is clear: this type of training does not work.  Appropriate and respectful communication is at the root of prevention.  We provide organizations realistic and practiced strategies of prevention and respect that improves culture and grows the bottom line.  Root Communication consultants are experts in communication competence and instructional design, they leverage this expertise to create real change while meeting all legal compliance guidelines.

Joanna Kahlow: Founder

​Joanna is an experienced organizational trainer and human resources consultant specializing in sexual harassment prevention, inclusion, civility and workplace communication. She is committed to providing compliant sexual harassment training that will shift perspectives and have a lasting impact.The training will help organizations and individuals avoid financial loss through litigation, loss of productivity and bruises to reputations. Joanna developed a unique training formula that couples her extensive knowledge of harassment, inclusion and communication with her expertise in instructional design. This combination produces a one-of-a-kind training experience that keeps participants engaged and creates both personal and organizational growth. Joanna has shared her passion and knowledge in interpersonal and intercultural communication with organizations, universities and colleges. Her trainings range from one-on-one coaching to entire organizations. She has her M.A. in Communication Studies and has presented and published research in the field.
